A cited brief, every citation checked.

Research Desk writes a short brief from the sources you give it, with a citation for every claim, and hands it over only after every citation has been checked. An indexer splits the sources into pages and builds a search index in plain code; a writer drafts the brief and cites a page for each claim; a verifier reads every cited page, quotes the passage that supports the claim and rejects the citation when it finds none; the writer then repairs or drops the claim. Whatever could not be sourced after that is listed at the end, never left in the text.

Usage

  1. Put your sources in sources/: PDFs, Markdown files or saved web pages.
  2. Start Brief with your question.
  3. Read the brief, then brief-sources.md, where every citation stands next to the passage it rests on.

What it produces

  • brief.md: the brief with numbered citations, and the claims that could not be sourced listed at the end
  • brief-sources.md: each citation with the quoted passage and its page
  • index/: the page index, reused by the next run on the same sources

Configuration

  • length (default one page): half page, one page or two pages.
  • citations (default numbered): numbered or author-year.
  • maxRepairs (default 2): how often a rejected claim is rewritten before it is dropped.

Notes

  • The index and the quote check are plain code, and the model reads the pages it needs rather than the whole pile, so thirty sources are as fine as three.
  • Each stage is a vloop of its own: run Verify alone on a brief you wrote yourself, or fork it.
